Five Figma shortcuts that save us 30 minutes a day

Five keyboard tricks we teach every new designer in their first week. Boring, repeatable, time back in the bank.

Nothing clever here. Just the five Figma shortcuts we drill into every new starter on day three. None of them are flashy. All of them save real time across a working week.

    • Cmd or Ctrl + Alt + K: turn anything into a component, instantly
    • Cmd or Ctrl + D: duplicate in place. Faster than copy-paste, every time.
    • Cmd or Ctrl + Shift + H: hide the layer. Useful for quickly trying without and with.
    • Cmd or Ctrl + /: open the command bar. The single biggest productivity unlock in Figma.
    • Alt + drag: measure the gap between two things without leaving the canvas

Try them for a week. If you don't notice the time back, blame us.
